Our MP!

Friends, following were the questions raised by one of our Hon’ble MPs on 07.12.2009 in the Lok Sabha during question hour:

Whether only NABARD has been given target for implementation of Self Help Group Schemes; and

If so, the justification behind such a decision and the detailed view points of the Government in this regard?

His brief profile:

Member, Bihar Legislative Council (three term)( 1986-2004)Cabinet Minister, Department of Minor Irrigations, Govt. of Bihar Chairman, Committee on Private Member` Bills and Resolutions( 1990)Member, Bihar Legislative Assembly (1995) Cabinet Minister, Department of Minor Irrigation, Institutional Finance and Programme Implementation( 1995-June 1997)National General Secretary, Janata Dal( Aug. 1997-2000)Chairman, Committee on Government Assurances( June 2000-June 2004)Elected to Rajya Sabha( June, 2004)Member, Standing Committee on Finance( Aug. 2004 onwards)Member, Consultative Committee, Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways( Oct. 2004 onwards)Member, Committee on Rules, Rajya Sabha( Nov. 2004)JPC Report on The Scheduled Tribes and other Traditional Forest Dwellers (recogniton if Forest Rights) Bill, 2005 Member, Privilege Committee, Rajya Sabha Member, Committee for Papers Laid on the Table, Rajya Sabha Elected to 15th Lok Sabha( 2009)Member, Committee on Finance( 31 August 2009)Member, Committee on Subordinate Legislation( 23 September 2009)

Isn’t it a tragedy that even after a decade of implementation of SGSY the responsible people representatives have no clue about the most important flagship programme on livelihoods for poor?

We only talk about capacity building of PRI functionaries; don’t you think capacity building if at all necessary then it should be for all; and if the country can register 8% growth with such MPs then I think we can rely on any Adult Indian to run PRIs, at least nothing worse would happen.
